the Scholarship Committee, Kameron Nelson, Marla Kelly, Russ
Rearick, committee chairman, and ER Scott McDonald.
We had six scholarship award winners at Elks Lodge 1187 for
the 2007-2008 school year. The committee had to select from
13 applications, nine young women and four young men. There
are 10 schools for which our lodge is responsible. All
applications were excellent examples of the fine young
people in our community.
These are the 2008 Scholarship winners from our lodge:
Kameron Nelson of Rapid City and Lisa Anderson of Wall, $750
each; Bryant Huether of Wall and Marla Kelly, Quinn (attends
Wall High School), $500 each, and Jack Fowler and Karah
Odegaard, both of Rapid City, $250 each.
Nelson also was a Legacy award winner as well, one of four
from South Dakota. There were 347 $1,000.00 national Legacy
Scholarship Awards that are for children or grandchildren of
member Elks.
Other state Legacy winners are Brittany Lipetzky, Madison
Lodge 1442; Casey Placek, Sioux Falls Lodge 262, and
Brittany Hanten, Watertown Lodge 838.
The
2008 Most Valuable Student awards go to: Karlie Foster,
$1,000 per year, Watertown Lodge; Marie Holtzmann, $2,000
per year, Yankton Lodge 994, and Nicholas Stukel, $1,000,
Winner Elks Lodge 2084.
The
2008-2009 applications will be available this fall and this
year the Legacy awards will be for $4,000. The Most Valuable
Student award need not go to a dependent of an Elk. And, it
should be noted, dependents of Elks may apply for both
scholarships.
The
committee urges all Elks to encourage their seniors to put
in applications this fall.
ENF's Recurring Gift Club: A Convenient Way to Continue Giving
What starts with one act of generosity and over the
course of a year multiplies? A recurring gift to the ENF!
If you want the satisfaction that you are helping students,
families and veterans every month, consider joining the ENF's
Recurring Gift Club. The ENF has the ability to automatically
debit a donor's bank account or charge a credit card on a recurring
basis each month for a set donation amount.
There are no checks to write or coupons to mail. It's safe,
reliable, and allows us to spend less time on administration and
more time on the ENF mission. :You may even end up making a
larger gift than you would have by writing a single check! For
example, if you normally give $100 to the ENF and sign-up for a $10
per month direct debit, you'll actually have given $120 to the ENF
by the end of the year!
Reduce the number of things on your "to-do" list, and let the ENF
do the work for you by signing up for a recurring gift today!
